Quote of the Week – Arnold Newman

“(But)…a lot of photographers think that if they buy a better camera they’ll be able to take better photographs. A better camera won’t do a thing for you if you don’t have anything in your head or in your heart.” – Arnold Newman – “American Photo” – March/April 2000, page: 17

I think photographers,  professional photographers, would agree with this statement. The camera is a tool and the photographer is the artist. Sure good tools help to produce a better quality of work but an unskilled tradesperson can not be improved by owning the most expensive tools that they can find.

Arnold Newman is one of the greats of photography. I am sure when you look into him further you will find that you recognise alot of his work.

Posing Newborns

Great Video that shows a very confident baby handler. I wish I could demonstrate this more often in class but babies are not easy to come by.

practice makes perfect so hunt down some babies and give it a go.

South Australian Winners of the AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards

Entering is just as important as winning photography awards. This video showcase’s the images that WON for some of the AIPP South Australian Members at this years APPA’s held in Sydney in June. Congrats to all that won but also congrats to those who had the courage to enter. If you entered you have put some of your favorite and best images up and if they didn’t win an award, thats life, but if they scored above 70 then they are considered great professional practice and you should continue to work hard, and have another go next year.

Colour Space – What is it?

Colour Space and colour managment is just so second nature to me now days that i often get the question – what is it and i dont get it??

Colour space is a digital photography thing that many film trained photographers just dont know about so here is a short video explanation. I hope it helps clear things up a bit.
